Warning Doctor Who Spoilers

I love Doctor Who, and my favorite companion out of all that I have seen (doctors 9-11) is Donna Noble.  Which is funny because I hated her when she was first introduced in “The Runaway Bride”  but I grew to love her and out of all the companion endings her’s is the saddest.  I mean what the hell?  She saved countless worlds and even the doctor and now she doesn’t remember a single bit of it.  She grew so much as a person but she is stuck in her pre-doctor self, believing herself to be unimportant.  It is just not right.  I feel sorry for her parents especially her grandfather, (which by the way is a close runner for best companion)

Just felt the need to rant how Donna got screwed.

Twilight Vs. Harry Potter

I will admit that I read the books and I enjoyed the books.  I swooned over Edward and was so excited about Breaking Dawn, I stayed up until 4 and read it in a night.  I haven’t seen any of the movies because I just don’t like movies as much as I like books.  That being said I will always put Harry Potter over Twilight for a few main reasons.

1).  Characters in Harry Potter are three dimensional.  They have hopes, dreams, fears. They have their flaws and they make mistakes.  They are human and that is what makes them superior over Twilights characters in my opinion.  Twilights characters just aren’t as alive to me, Edward and all the Cullens are made  out to be perfect beings, incapable of dying or any weaknesses.

2).  Rowling interwove her stories in such a way that I just love rereading the earlier books.  It shows such planning, foreshadowing I just love foreshadowing, and the twilight series just doesn’t give that to me.

3).  Harry Potter teaches that even the greatest of evil can be conquered.  Twilight sort of has this but the evil isn’t really conquered because the Voltaire still control the vampires.

4).  The way Twilight portrays relationships creeps me out, I don’t believe in Love at first sight and while people can get lucky and infatuation can turn into love, it doesn’t start out that way.

5).  The way that Harry Potter covers themes and ideas such as Good vs. Evil, true friendship, Racism, power of the individual, love, ect…

There are loads of other reasons but this is all I will go into.  What do you think?  Why do you choose Twilight or Harry Potter or Both?
